The Grammy folks tend to put Stevie Wonder in the Pop and Rhythm & Blues genres (he has won multiple Grammy awards in both categories). Others might describe his works as soul, pop, or jazz, among many other genres, I suppose. I'd say the Beastie Boys are hip hop, although they also tend to incorporate multiple styles (rock, jazz, punk) into their sound.
